Leading with Experience
Valeria has advocated for the importance of conversation to brand value, memorable experiences, and culture focusing on delivering the human side of business in digital environments at conferences around the world for more than a decade.
Having seen up close the challenges and opportunities inside corporations, startups, and agencies in 5 industries and 6 countries, Valeria loves helping people overcome the often-invisible barriers to doing good work and creating memorable experiences.
The Presentations
Becoming a Conversation Agent https://valeriamaltoni.com/portfolio/becoming-a-conversation-agent/ [use still from video with link embed]
Online and in the real world, brand story, believability, and behavior are linked and in constant conversation. Agent is “an active and efficient cause.” Intentional conversation is thus an agent of change in individuals, organizations, and the community.
A bold talk using personal stories to illustrate on three strategic frameworks that created the infrastructure for my work where I combine environmental levers to help people go from where they are to where they want to go – learning by doing, doing to learn. (Running time: 12:51)
Uploading Humanism https://valeriamaltoni.com/portfolio/ignite-sxsw-tech-2021-uploading-humanism/ [use still from video with link embed]
OF COURSE there are women in tech, and their agenda is precisely the same as men.
The shift will occur when instead of thinking — and talking about — the inherently sexist idea of women (or men) in tech, we focus instead on the co-creation aspects. Think of that as the creative spirit, which traditionally is expressed in feminine poetic terms.
THAT is what we need. Balanced humanism is what we need as active agent in increasing the options, choices, and possibilities of others. That is what technology wants. (Running time: 5:40)
Make learning a habit and discover new opportunities https://vimeo.com/128538941 [use still from video with link embed, put on vm.com page like you did for the others]
Children feel the excitement of learning more strongly than the fear of the unknown. For adults the balance is reversed: we stop learning when we’re afraid of leaving the safety of what we know. In order to get what we want, we needed to commit to change—to immerse in new experiences.
Using personal stories from when I first arrived in the US I illustrate how to make learning a habit, connect with our inner child and discover new opportunities—making space for learning by letting go of habits that aren’t serving us well, asking for help and trusting the learning process, and experimenting to discover what works. (Running time: 26:39)
Everyone is Wrong About Influence. Except your Customers https://www.slideshare.net/ConversationAgent/smx-east-everyone-is-wrong-about-influence-except-your-customers?ref=http://www.conversationagent.com/2014/12/my-talk-on-influence.html [use photo from SxSW or SMX East as still, link to page with deck]
What is influence? For a decade, Malcom Gladwell’s The Tipping Point has served as a touchstone for those who believe that influence resides in the hands of a select few. Not so, says a new generation of marketers. They believe that thanks to the democratizing power of the Internet, anyone can be an Influential.
Both camps are wrong. True influence flows from drawing together people with shared interests. This session focuses on the process of identifying areas of relevancy among your customers and prospects, building community, and allowing others to amplify your influence as you meet their needs.
Valeria’s presentations have been attended by more than 12,000 audience members in 15 cities (including multiple invitations in New York city, Boston, Minneapolis, Toronto, and Austin), and 6 countries – they have been viewed more than 350,000 times on SlideShare, Vimeo, and YouTube.
